The South Louisiana Institute for Infectious Disease Research includes three key components:

 

An Educational component that centers on a Bioscience Education and Training program to provide a workforce pipeline of skilled technical assistants for the bioscience industry and university research.

A Research component that provides infrastructure to enhance Core Research Facilities and interactions between scientists.

A Commercialization component that focuses on establishing pathways to more efficiently translate new discoveries into cures and treatments, creating new partnerships between the institutions and existing bio-tech companies, and bioscience training opportunities for business students.

 

Built upon these three essential components, the Institute will foster major advances infectious disease research in south Louisiana that ultimately will benefit the nation and the world.
